And now for my Valentine's Day story!
So, we made plans with some friends to meet in the neighboring city to have a fancy dinner. We made the reservation the day before and we were all pretty excited to try it.
We get there a little before 8:00, when our reservation was scheduled. We walk in, and it's a pretty nice restaurant. Aaannnd...we wait. We probably stand there for ten minutes before being approached by someone with a clipboard. He asks for our reservation name. We tell him.
He can't find us. But tells us that he was told not to seat anymore people since the kitchen is so far behind.
......Uh. What??
That's right. They dropped our reservation and refused to service us.
I failed to mention that while we were waiting to be acknowledged there was a very disgruntled waiter who was loudly complaining to his superior about his table having to wait an hour and 15 minutes to get their food.
#1: They were not that busy.
#2: There was not nearly as much chaos as you would expect from a restaurant that was way behind like that.
#3: You refused our party our reservation at 8:00 PM on Valentine's Day.
We were all pretty upset about this...as we had driven 45 minutes to eat there! We called a few other restaurants to see about their wait time, and because of the holiday the waits were around an hour.
Luckily, we found a place with a decent wait time and I can honestly say that we had a better time at the 2nd choice than we ever would have at the 1st.
Here's the silver lining to the dilemma:
1) We ended up spending WAY less money than we originally anticipated
2) The atmosphere at the 2nd restaurant was way more fun than the 1st
3) We will not forget this Valentine's Day
Sometimes, the present situation is frustrating and annoying and everyone just wants to be upset about it. This easily could have ruined our evening. At first we were all annoyed. It was Valentine's Day. We were all looking forward to trying something new and had been anticipating it all day. But all in all the 2nd option was much better. We all had a great time, ate some great food and made some memories.
That's the silver lining.
Bergen: Yes, I am one of those people that goes around posting negative reviews on travel sites for situations like this.
